With the introduction of this policy, another important campaign which focuses on benefitting the Make in India movement by emphasizing the promotion of local brands, manufacturing and supply chain is – Vocal for Local.
Vocal for Local is an initiative to empower local products in the market which is competitive at par global standards and are truly able to draw out the essence of local brands in both domestic as well as international market.
MAHAMANDI 2020, a trademark of NITIE spearheaded by Team MIG (Marketing Interest Group) under the leadership of Prof. T Prasad (1/12 Mandi Sir). T Prasad Sir took such a great initiative 15yrs ago with a great vision of greating leaders. Students of NITIE host a number of activities during the event to proliferate the socio-economic aspects of business by propagating handcraft toys and stationery made by underprivileged children. It gives the students a practical perspective of learning by selling in open markets.
Our mantra is Socho Becho Seekho.
This year the theme for Mahamandi is Swadeshi Mandi. Where students from different states around the country campaign their local products digitally. This is in alignmnt with the Vocal for Local campaign started by our Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As a part of this event I got this opportunity to talk about my local product. I am from kolkata, the city of joy which is also a part of the state which is famous for it Jute cultivation.
Jute is the name of the plant or fiber used to make burlap, hessian or gunny cloth. Jute is one of the most affordable natural fibers, and second only to cotton in the amount produced and variety of uses.
Advantages of jute
• Strong
• Breathable
• Cost-effective
• Eco-friendly
• Versatile
• Anti-static
• Can be easily blended with synthetic fibres
Jute, on the other hand, does not need a lot of farming space, and hence, is an eco-friendly option to plastics.
